TLN Mobility Projects: what we provide

About the TLN Mobility

The aim of TLN Mobility is :

  1. To facilitate the entry of disadvantaged youth and young adults into training and employment through transnational mobility measures

and

  1. To foster transnational cooperation in the ESF by creating a reference model of coordinated transnational and nation/regional action which is applicable to other ESF policy areas in the future

The TLN (Transnational Learning Network) Mobility thus adheres to key priorities of centralised EU initiatives such as Youth on the Move, Youth Employment Initiative (YEI), Youth Guarantee Scheme, and the Council’s general recommendation towards transnational collaboration through the ESF.

The network is comprised of Managing Authorities and ESF political administrations from 15 Member States and regions in Europe.

Led by the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, its main objective is to prepare and launch a Coordinated Call for transnational mobility measures under the ESF 2014-2020; and to support the subsequent implementation of respective national and regional calls.

Adressing youth unemployment in Europe through transnational ESF mobility measures

Youth unemployment is a challenging reality in many European Member States and regions. According to the European Commission, in 2013, nearly 6 million people in Europe under the age of 25 were unemployed and a total of 7.5 million were not in employment, education or training. The ESF-funded Learning Network on Transnational Mobility Measures for Disadvantaged Youth and Young Adults (TLN Mobility) is a partnership between 15 Member States and regions in Europe to tackle youth unemployment through transnational mobility. The partners recognise the positive impact that work stays abroad have on the prospects for young disadvantaged people to enter training or employment. They have therefore planned for transnational mobility measures to be supported through their national and regional ESF 2014-2020 programmes.
